Through a lot of Google research the organizers have set their sights on Saturday, March 21, 2009. The date has been chosen for a number of logical reasons.

• University of Calgary reading week is from February 15-22
• Mount Royal College reading week is from February 17-20
• SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) is on break from February 12-13
• Students are back long enough that they want to party, however are still far enough from exams to warrant a full night out
• No Calgary Flames hockey games out of town or in Calgary at the Saddledome
• No Calgary Hitmen hockey games at the Saddledome
• No events currently scheduled at the Saddledome (the Tim Horton’s Brier is March 7-15 which should allow for plenty of promotional opportunities in the parking area and pubs)
• The preferred media partner already does a Saturday event at the preferred venue

A lot of the reasons behind selecting March 21 seem logical however they are all vitally important in the date selection. Now to speak with the venue and arrange the date.
